I love this because I read an article during the Orange Potatoes' last presidential holding that said, “To defeat Trump, the greatest gains are those that are small and local.” I love this because I am one of those weirdos who run around reminding people to vote during local elections.
I would've loved to do the crawl but I live in so Cal and you're just a bit too far for me to drive at the moment. There was a time when I aspired to move north, but life had other ideas. I loved reading about it though. I consider Substack as one of my communities that boost me and feed me, especially the creative community because we're all so supportive. Now that my well is filled, I'm off to work on a second sock.
Hello Anne! As always, thanks for your thoughtful post. I'm so happy to have met you at the Yarn Crawl at Coven of Stitches. :-) The store was new to me, so such a wonderful experience on so many levels. Thanks for your kindness in explaining the yarns, and the extra bag of treats, I was so happy to see and score some of your yarn in person!
I appreciate your insights on Stitches West and the stress of preparing for, and participating in it. Bless you for including a couch, I'm sure that your visitors were so grateful! I only attended two of those events before pandemic, and since they never revived, I have always been envious of other regions in the US where you get to see so many vendors in one place.
I only managed to hit two of the 22 stores participating in the Yarn Crawl this year - I was bummed not to visit more (the Bay Area is huge... can't possibly hit most of those stores even over a couple weekends). Also, I happen to live in a crafting desert here in the East Bay (notably missing from the Yarn Crawl) so it is sad not to have a LYS nearby where we can experience the knitting community more tangibly.

Sigh. Thanks for your continued calming insights
