I've been having similar reflections and leaning into simple comforts like my morning coffee, my knitting, reading, watching the birds at our feeders, garden plans, and walks with my family in the park. All ordinary and also absolutely vital.

One of my touchstones is the belief that the simple, ordinary parts of life are the most meaningful.

Wow! That’s so my Annie and I love this. I have learned from knitting what is important to me and it is definitely small moments with needles and wool in my hands.

Seconding your oatmilky coffee in the morning, and offering up the beautiful of unkempt backyard gardens--and your yarn! I still have skeins in my stash. 😊

Once again your words really resonated with me. I have been pondering your words since yesterday. My father recently passed away and while he lived an extraordinary life it's the ordinary things I miss.

A phone call.

Sitting and looking at photos.

Shared memories of life.

Making his coffee in the morning.

For me, today is laundry day. Crisp, clean sheets are one of my favorite things. I normally rush through and just get the "chore" done. Today I am taking my time enjoying the process. In appreciation for the ability to do laundry and have clean clothes. Thank you for championing the ordinary.

I am so sorry for your loss, Angela. I love all the things about being with my 78 year old dad that you mentioned, and second your pleasure in clean sheet day.

I’m sorry about your father. My dad passed away last month, and I too see how extraordinary his life was. He’d be the first to say he was ordinary; it was all those ordinary moments that made it extraordinary--repairing a broken toy, being patient while teaching me to drive, sitting in companionable silence at the kitchen table at night after everyone else was in bed.

Be kind to yourself.

When I got home, my first yarn subscription package from you was waiting for me. Your lovely, touchable yarn and the loving way is was packed greeted me like a hug. Thank you for making our worlds brighter.

This is such a lovely heartwarming post. And you are so right. The simple things are absolutely the most important and I'm trying to take time every day to appreciate them. Today it was opening a new packet of coffee beans from a local roastery, then going outside and smelling the petrichor after last night's rain

After a recent health issue I am taking joy in all the simple things and trying to re-evaluate what I do in my spare time. This resonated with me so much. One thing that I love and take advantage of whenever possible is snuggles from my son who is 11 going on 35! 🤣 Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!

Thank you so much for reminding me of the beauty of the ordinary today. This piece also immediately made me think of a song by one of my favorite artists, "Holy as the Day is Spent" by Carrie Newcomer (would highly recommend any of her music, as much of it speaks to similar themes!) https://youtu.be/pxzO8DyY9e8
