Day 1: Your permission slip to { take what you need }
rest, retreat, stop, step away, knit more, crochet more, do one small thing that makes your heart sing
How are you doing? Have you eaten? Would you like a warm drink?
For the next 8 days, we are going to spend a few minutes together each morning in a small, little bubble of quiet and calm.
The point of these quiet minutes is not to do something but just to be—with ourselves and each other—at a time when the outside world is getting really loud and, frankly, kinda scary.
I’m not going to share election news because we are all getting plenty, if not way too much, of that. I trust you have a voting plan or have already early-voted. I know you have already done what you can to help the Harris/Walz team, whether that was volunteering, attending a rally, donating money, talking with people in real life, sending postcards, or holding hope.
So now, while we wait, we wait together, with our knitting and our crochet.
That’s what this particular virtual retreat is about: turning inward, if only for a few minutes each morning, and doing something small, but hopefully meaningful, to hold on to hope. Hope for the beautiful, diverse, inclusive, welcoming, and warm-hearted world we want to live in.
