Why I like to knit with the colors my garden is showing
My latest two seasonal colorways: Miss Lavender Lewis & Macaron
Maybe it’s just me, but when the yarn on my needles feels like the season I’m in, it’s just about the most wonderful thing. Knitting with seasonally-colored yarn helps infuse my crafting—and maybe yours, too?—with energy, freshness, and harmony.
This week’s shop update is for exactly that: the colors of late spring. There’s lavender (in the form of Miss Lavender Lewis, which my yarn club subscribers received a few weeks ago) and Macaron (named for the pistachio green French macarons pictured above). I tested the colors on four of my favorite yarn bases and have built out a really gorgeous four-color seasonal set for you.
The last seasonal color set I made (Minuet in Peach, currently on my drying racks if you placed a preorder) worked out really well for me—and y’all seemed to like it too, so we’re gonna do that again!
This set is available on Cashmere Blend, and as a newsletter subscriber, I am delighted to give you 15% off with the code NEWSLETTER.
(Seriously, you, dear newsletter subscriber, make my life and business so sweet and wonderful. I know you share my values, you love my yarn, you’re making gorgeous handmade things for yourself and for loved ones, and you’re taking time to care for yourself and add good things to this world. I am so happy that my current business structure lets me give you a bit of a discount on a seasonal set of yarn like this. So happy!)
This colorway is Miss Lavender Lewis, and it’s what my yarn club subscribers just received. I’ve tested it on my four favorite spring bases: Cashmere Blend (as subscribers received, and on the far left), Harvest Sport, Targhee Sock (and look how it’s just that tiniest bit warmer than the other bases) and Mohair-Silk Lace.
I’m thrilled with how they look and am delighted to offer preorders on any/all of these four bases if you would like to make yourself the most seasonally appropriate lavender-colored sweater. (This photo was taken just an hour ago with my perfectly-themed Blue Waterfall flowers. The link goes to the nursery where I got mine, and they absolutely ship!)
And my final offering for this week: Macaron. It was the companion colorway for my yarn club subscribers, and it’s named for my memory of the color of pistachio-flavored French macarons. As you can see, my memory is a bit different than the actual color of this confection, but I had wonderful fun styling this particular photograph.
Macaron looks gorgeous on four bases, from left to right: Cashmere Blend, Harvest Sport, Targhee Sock, and Mohair-Silk Lace. This color would be spectacular as a fresh spring sweater, or striped with Starling. (I’m holding open the preorders for Starling for one more week, so if you also want some Starling, you still have time!)
Thanks for being here, friend. I’m really proud of this week’s offering, and I hope you find something you love.
PS: If you have an open order, thank you so much for waiting for me to ship it to you! I am behind on shipping but will be catching up tomorrow (so stay tuned for a shipping notice), and the Minuet in Peach preorders are also dyed and drying. If you ever have questions about order status, feel free to email me at anne at littleskein dot com. I’m always happy to talk to you.
When I opened my Kindred Spirits package and gazed upon Miss Lavender Lewis, I think I may have gasped (instead of my usual "Oooh" which no longer gets a response from my family - they recognize my 'pretty yarn' sounds), because I got everyone's attention! The pops and speckles of orange, raspberry, and blue dance on top of the most perfectly delicate base of lavender. I have never been so excited to find a project to use new yarn as I was for this colorway, and I've already made a start on a cowl that I'm testing for designer Sierra Kreun. 😉
